OBITUARY - 1992
James T. Wood, 87, of Route 8, Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Sunday, March 1, 1992, at Chippewa Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1904, in Elroy, Juneau County, to Julia (Gullickson) and James Louis Wood. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Barbara Hakes Barquist on Nov. 29, 1952, in Cornell. They lived there until moving to the Bateman area, where they farmed. He had been a resident of the Chippewa Manor since 1985. He was a member of the English Lutheran Church of Bateman.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Carol (Harold) Hedrington of Osseo; one son, James F. Wood, Jr. of Chippewa Falls; one stepdaughter, Doris (Donald) Hetke of Boyd; two stepsons, Claude Barquist of Stanley and Richard (Jean) Barquist of Willard; one brother, Melvin Wood of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Donna Witkus on July 22, 1991; one stepdaughter, Betty Barquist; one stepson, Albert Hakes; three brothers, Walter, Clarence and Robert Wood; three sisters, Hilda Leonard, Mabel Severson, and Leila Hamlin; one grandson and one step-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at English Lutheran Church of Bateman, with the Rev. Hal Schroetter officiating. Burial will be in Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
