OBITUARY - 1983
Clarence Wood, 80, died Saturday afternoon at Wissota Lakeside. He was born Oct. 1, 1902 in Juneau County, the son of Julia (Gullickson) and James L. Wood. Clarence moved to the Bateman area with his parents in 1911 where he has since farmed. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and married Agnes Quammen. He was a member of English Lutheran Church of Bateman.
Surviving are two daughters, Leona (Mrs. John) Willkom of Minneapolis and Beverly Weber of Kenosha; two brothers, Melvin and James Theodore of Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Robert and Walter, and three sisters, Hilda, Mabel and Leila.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at English Lutheran Church of Bateman, with the Rev. Jack Ottoson officiating. Burial will be in Bateman Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and at the church, one-half hour prior to services.
