OBITUARY - 1983
Walter G. Wood, 83, formerly of Town of Lafayette, died Tuesday morning at the Golden Age Home. He was born April 22, 1900 in Juneau County, the son of Julia (Gullickson) and James L. Wood. Walter moved to the Bateman area with his parents in 1911 where he attended school and farmed for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II from June 1942 to July 1945.
Surviving are three brothers, Melvin, James Theodore and Clarence of Chippewa Falls and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert, and three sisters, Hilda, Mabel and Leila.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at English Lutheran Church of Bateman, with the Rev. Jack Ottoson officiating. Interment will be in Bateman Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and at the church, one-half hour prior to services.
Pallbearers were John Willkom, Harold Hedrington, Jim Wood, Delmar Woldt, Doug Brown and Cliff LeMay.
