OBITUARY - 2000
Floyd N. "Whitey" Johnson, 88, of Elroy WI and formerly of Wilmington, IL, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2000 at the Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston. He was born on November 12, 1911 to Knute and Sarah (Gullickson) Johnson in the Town of Fountain, Juneau County.
He graduated from the New Lisbon High School and later from the Juneau County Normal School and Stevens Point Teacher's College. He was united in marriage to Ruby Thompson on July 1, 1936 in Rockford, IL. They lived in the Wilmington and Morton, IL areas and more recently moved back to Elroy. Floyd started his career as a Teacher in Elementary Schools and later as Principal. Then he became a Steam Pipe Fitter in construction. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Local 597 in Chicago. Floyd was also a member of the Masons for over 50 years and the Kankakee Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Elroy; two daughters, Eileen (James) O'Reilly of Branson, MO and Gloria (Al) Abraham of Morton, IL; two sons, James (Donna) Johnson of Elroy, WI and Bruce (Dianne) Johnson of Taylorville, IL; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Judy Johnson; two sisters, Selma Martin and Hulda Kuflicka; and five brothers, Elsmer, Enoch, Leonard, Hilbert and Theodore Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Lemonweir Lutheran Church rural Elroy, WI with Rev. Greg Daher officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
