Wilamena "Villy" Billing(s) was born in Sweden. Her mother's maiden name was Augusta Kastberg. She lost her father, Karl Gustaf Billing, a high-ranking retired Army officer, and two young brothers in a tragic home fire. He had rescued the sisters and mother, and returned to the house for the boys.
She and her sister Karin Billing(s) later came to the United States to pursue their profession as Swedish Massage therapists. They emigrated to Galveston, Texas, learned English quickly, practiced Swedish Massage, and also lectured at the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston, and the Catholic Hospital in Houston.
Wilamena married John Wilson Stump Bristol (1876-1918) in Galveston, a month before they survived Galveston's historic 1900 Storm in his family's home. They later moved to Bonham, Texas. They had no children. Her husband died in the 1918 Influenza epidemic, and Villy moved to Kerens to the home of her sister Karin, and Karin's husband, Dr. B.S. Brown. She did not remarry. Both sisters worked as nurses, and their mother joined them from Sweden in Kerens.
Mrs. Wilamena "Villy" Billings Bristol is buried in this family plot with her husband John Wilson Stump Bristol; sister Mrs. Karin Billings Brown; brother-in-law Dr. B.S. Brown; the sisters' mother, Augusta Kastberg ("Mama") Billing; and Dr. Brown's sister, Minnie Brown Allan.
