On the farm there was a windmill tower which was used to pump water before rural electrification came along in 1939. Part of the farm passes over the 900 foot Chicago and Northwestern railroad tunnel which is on the route between Hustler and Elroy. During World War I the tunnel was guarded by soldiers. Also at one time, there was a watch building at the north end, and after a train had passed by, the person who was working there would go through the tunnel to see if rocks had fallen. |
