SARA SILBERBERG
San Rafael resident
There will be a vigil service tonight in San Rafael for Sara Hilarita Silberberg. The Mill Valley native died at home yesterday in San Rafael. She was 91.
Her funeral Mass will be recited tomorrow.
Mrs. Silberberg was born in 1904, one of three daughters of Ida Mae Blackmer and Hugh Allen Boyle II. Her family, Sanchez-Garcia-Boyle, had been in the county for six generations.
The pioneer family once owned Rancho Corte Madera del Presidio. That land grant included what is now Tiburon and Belvedere.
Mrs. Silberberg was reared in San Francisco. She worked in the city until she met and married the late Harry Silberberg.
She was an entrepreneur and clothing designer. She ran several San Francisco businesses with her husband.
Their last store was Silberberg's on Eddy and Taylor streets in San Francisco, where "they sold everything from silk stockings to fur coats," said the couple's son, Mervyn Silberberg of San Rafael.
The shop closed in 1949, following some profitable years during World War II. The couple retired to San Rafael in t he early 1950s.
She also is survived by six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Robert and Herbert Silberberg, died earlier.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral at noon tomorrow at St. Raphael's Church in San Rafael. She will be buried at the Hills of Eternity Cemetery in Colma.
A vigil service will be recited at 7:30 p.m.today at Keaton's Mortuary in San Rafael.

A paid death notice in the same paper appeared on Monday, September 18,1995, which adds a little more information: Mrs. Silberberg was the mother of Mervyn Silberberg and his wife, Janice, and mother-in-law of Dorothee Silberberg. She was the grandmother of Daniel, Michael, Kelly and Babette Silberberg, Carolyn and David Ezgar, and step-grandmother of Byron Adams and Deborah Cronwall.
