OBITUARY - 1984
Mrs. Mary Irene Wood, 74, of La Crosse and formerly of New Lisbon, died Tuesday, May 1, in St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born on June 16, 1909, in the town of Fountain to William and Mary (Callahan) Schlicht. She married Maurice Wood on Jan. 25, 1928, in New Lisbon and the couple farmed in the town of Fountain for many years.
Mrs. Wood had lived in La Crosse since 1966.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse and St. Paul's Cathloc Church in New Lisbon. She also was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. James (Eileen) Barrett of Camp Douglas, Mrs. Herb (Maureen) Finger of New Lisbon and Mrs. Richard (Chryl) Horstman of La Crosse; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant daughters and one grandson.
Services were to be today at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church, New Lisbon, with the Rev. Arnold Reuter officiating. Burial was to be in the church cemetery.
The Hare Funeral Home, New Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.
